As a graduate student in magical theory and practice with her BA from the University of Bologna in Roman History and Medievial Metaphysics, Valeria Julia Cicerone was excited to get an invitation to PCU's respected Magical Studies program.   Recruited by the Midnighters, she was asked to help them with a dig in Cimeroa.

What followed changed her life as she was sold a manuscript scroll, penned by her distant relative Valeria Messallina.  Enclosed were instructions on a ritual to contact her ancestor, along with a cameo locket containing a lock of her ancestor's hair encased in amber.

The ghost of her ancestor asked to be allowed to help make amends for her prior actions as the consort of Emporer Claudius.  Valeria agreed...and her life was forever changed...
