Character Bio

Matthew Barnes was an intelligent child, working hard to impress his scientist father. He always fell into the shadow of his "brother", a mutant his father was raising and helping to control his powers. When the mutant became the hero known as Scattershot, Matthew felt that his father deserted him totally. One day, Matthew found a serum for invulverability that his father had created and decided to try it on himself. He then made a costume and went out to be a hero himself and win his father's praise. The powers from the serum didn't last long though and he got caught by a Circle of Thorns coven who started working a ritual on him. Mid-ritual, Matthew felt flames shoot up around him but they didn't hurt him. They did hurt the coven and Matthew escaped. Finding he could control the flames that the ritual had released, he took the name Hellfyr and started fighting evil with powers that were truly his now.
