The details of Blake Peters' Project Prometheus are reasonably well-known now. Skeptics of his claims that he could grow a supercharged, perfect replacement body based loosely on your genetic code, in a pocket dimension, were placed on the defensive when he presented a male and a female prototype. Peters had no shortage of investors after that, but his prototypes were faked. The personality tranferral depended on the Eyes of Harakkas and, all-seeing though Harakkas may have been, he had only three pairs of eyes. One of each pair, hidden in the 'crystal resonators' his test subjects had worn to link them to the similarly-equipped replacement body in the pocket dimension, were consumed as part of the personality transferrence. After Peters disappeared and his fakery came to light, his test subject prototypes were left to make their way in the world.((imagine if the eyes placed in the 'resonators' had been mixed up, and the test subjects got each other's prototype body...))
