They say you feel sleepy when you're freezing to death, but Jan Sturm felt only wild
anger at the thugs who had slashed her legs and left her, crippled, to perish in the
rising blizzard. It wasn't fair!

She didn't notice as the whiteness above her took on huge form. Thought boomed in
her mind.

HUMAN, YOUR WANTING IS. . . FIERCE. NEVER HAVE WE BEHELD SUCH. EXPLAIN.
