After being used as a pawn by her commanding officer and the high ranking officer within the Russian mafia, she was sent to capture a scientist. Discovering that the target was already dead and that the experiement he was working on going into overload, she was caught within the blast. Unknown to her about the natural ability to withstand massive amounts of damage with no ill effects, she was infused with with the electricty cominf from the experiement when it went up.

Being written off as KIA has afforded her the freedom to move on to other employers and having her Gypsy family heritage helps in certain aspects as well.
