Character Bio

In days long past, a tribesman aided a minor spirit of the air. In return, the djinn
swore to watch over the tribesman's people. For many years, the djinn brought them
cooling winds and gentle rains. Under his benevolent watch, they settled into a village and prospered.

Alas, their peace was short-lived. A sorcerer learned that their village was built upon
a place of ancient power, and desired it for himself. He sent terrible sandstorms to
drive the people away. Rumiyah al-Kamir mustered all of his powers to turn them
aside.

Thwarted, the sorcerer turned to trickery. Rumi was lured into the desert by a false
tale of a lost child. The sands rose up around him, forming a vessel of unbreakable
glass. For many years, his bottle passed from hand to hand, its secret forgotten. He fell
into despair and no longer sought escape...until a drunken sailor filled his bottle
with rum. In a daze, Rumi drifted out of the bottle, for the binding spells
had faded. He is free...and a bit tipsy.
