Character Bio

In 1789, young Chantal S'Embraser was no friend of the dissolute monarchy of France, but an historian by trade. When the revolutionaries came to the abbey of St.-Denis to destroy the artifacts there, she could not bear to let them take the Oriflamme, legendary war banner of Charlemagne. Over the centuries it had been raised to signify the Kings of France committing to war!

Unfortunately, the revolutionaries' sense of grievance outweighed their sense of history, and in the riot, Chantal was burned along with the Oriflamme.

Chantal had performed no miracles, and was not a candidate for sainthood. But the simple purity of her short life and her death in defense of history made an impression in Heaven, and she was granted a rare honor. Chantal was elevated to Angelic status, recreated as an Aspect of War.

After centuries of training, she has returned to earth -- not for vengeance, but to mete out justice with a flaming sword!
