Character Bio

Kalinas was born in the slums around Bhopal, India. Her parents were destitute and survived off the trash and waste from the Union Carbide plant. Kalinas was poisoned in her mother's womb when methyl isocyanate was leaked during the Bhopal disaster in 1984.

Both of her parents died after suffering through their debilitating illnesses.  Rescue teams tried to provide assistance to those affected, but most victims died.  Kalinas was in critical condition and it appeared as if she was beyond saving. The doctors, however, were surprised at how quickly Kalinas recovered.

During the disaster, something had changed Kalinas. Even as the poisonous gases killed hundreds over the next several decades with lingering effects, Kalinas grew up to be a healthy child. She was prescient and developed methods of protecting others from harm. Scientists that have studied her presume her abilities arise from a genetic mutation. Some even believe she's one of the Nuclear 90.
