Part 1 (see Sierra in CoV for Pt 2)

A dreadful sound roused them from their sleep. They heard it again; noises from the next room.

Dakota reached for Sierra's hand, for the comfort and protection of her older sister. They went quietly down the hall, scarcely breathing. The sounds coming from their parents' room became silent.

Looking in, they saw a man surrounded by death and gloom standing over their parents' bodies; withered, mangled, lifeless.

"Hello, children," he smiled at them a wicked, heinous smile. "Tonight I have given you the gift of vengeance. I hope it burns in you, rages in you, ruins you. I hope one day you return that gift to me."

And then he was gone. Years later, they've tracked him to Paragon City.

Dakota understood what he was attempting and refused to play his morbid game. But Sierra insisted her revenge had to be satisfied. Reluctantly, Dakota accompanied her sister to the City of Heroes, intent on protecting Sierra from her dismal fate.
