Character Bio

Joan Miriam Wilson was an ordinary child, at least until the first time she was rushed to the emergency room, at age 13, with an apparent asthma attack. Even application of pure oxygen didn't help her breathing, and she probably would have died, but a powerful storm deposited several rapid-fire lightning strikes near the hospital, and she recovered from her attack with no harm. The attacks continued, until at age fifteen, her parents became desperate enough to take her to Crey, where she was subjected to tests she still won't speak of, except to say that when she escaped, the scientists giving the tests were in no condition to be "testing" anyone else.

A year later, the one good thing she will admit to having come out of the Crey testing was the discovery that she needs to breathe ozone: the more concentrated, the better. So, she now wears a respirator that creates the ozone she needs, as she breathes it. It makes returning to school difficult.
