Character Bio

[[RP'er, sometimes]]Shelley Roberts, a lab technician, ladled experimental
retrovirus into test tubes. There were still several years of drudgery ahead of
her before she could do her own research. In the meantime, she would continue
to see her hard work published under the names of her supervisors. One day,
the thunderous roar of passing battle shook the lab. While the superheroes
fought valiantly for the safety of the city, Shelley watched in horror as the
concussions shattered the test tubes on her lab bench. Retrovirus-soaked glass
flew everywhere, including into the lab tech's skin and the refrigeration unit she
was loading test tubes into. Pain and shock ebbed as she slipped into welcome
unconsciousness.

When she came to, the woman who was to be known as Soricidae found herself
face-down in front of the refrigerator. The frayed power cord resting in the
