Was it the accident, or was it losing all they held dear, or was it something much, much darker that set Michel-Julien and his older brother Rene on their seperate paths? One choosing to serve others with his gift and the other. . .  Michel-Julien Bruyere serves the citizens of Paragon City as Cirque de la Lune, the renowned illusionist with a gift for healing. His past is his own and he shares it with no one. One thing is certain though; the mysterious past that shapes this French-Canadian hero and compels him to greatness is the same as that of his brother Rene. Perhaps Rene is better known to the world as Cirque Noir, the villainous dark master. Michel-Julien will not comment on his brother and if asked, he will simply ignore you and walk away.
