Wes grew quickly, hitting puberty and then adulthood by the age of 12. He is still in his early teens, but tries to pass himself off as a huge, unintelligent brute.

The Rikti invasion occured during a trip to Chicago, away from his rural home with his mother and anonymity. Overnight he went from abnormal human child to child super hero.. Many friends were lost, but Wes discovered a love for fighting bad guys and being a hero. Claiming the insulting "Wes The Mess" nickname as his new moniker and convincing his mother this was best for him after the horror and loss he faced in the Rikti Invasion at Chicago, Wes joined another Invasion survivor on a flight to Paragon City.

Despite being in small news broadcasts frequently, he never really made the front page until he and many other heroes violently broke out of the Paragon City Courthouse during deliberations for the highly publicized Arcanist Trial. D
