Roy Rebranto gained his powers from an accident involving the explosion of an experimental solid-sound generator during his time as a security guard. He has since  honed his discovered ability to manipulate his "vibratory resonance" to create sound waves and solid sound constructs (including the projectiles his weapons use), though his voice must be regulated with the tuning device implanted in his neck.
As Resonoshot, he remains a steadfast member of the Protagonists and continues to support the team he's worked hard to maintain.
