Character Bio

Following the actions of Spetsnaz group Grom during Operation Storm-333, Major Mikael Romanov was injured and transported back to Moscow. There, he volunteered for a unique opportunity for the glory of the state.  His body's natural bioelectric field was amplified by a new serum developed by top GRU scientists. By the conclusion of the program, Major Romanov could not only project this additional electricity around his body, but his incredible willpower allowed him to transform into a living energy field for the briefest of moments. Following the conclusion of the program, he was given an Impervium shield as a symbol of the state and asked to perform heroic feats for the good of the people. Pravda immortalized him as the Shield of the State, defender of Mother Russia.

Following the collapse of the USSR, Romanov was sidelined by political machinations and forced to immigrate to the United States. Following the Rikti invasion, he once again fights for the good of the people.
