Marie X was the first human subject for the X project, originally made to turn mutants into killing machines. She was infused with nanobots that interacted with her nervous system so that her reflexes would be much higher than that of a normal healing, and was taught how to fight with claws.

She's in constant pain due to the overload of stimuli in her Central Nervous System and does not remember her last name or even her age, since she was abducted (as far as she knows) as a child. She looks around 18-20 years old, and now lives with mutants, who embraced her as one of their own due to her painful past.
