On my world we are born with the ability to manipulate the fabric of space and time but not all of us use that ability in the same manner.  Like musicians on Earth; where you may have a Violin Virtuoso who's also a Flamenco Guitarist for example, we specialise in one or two aspects and retain a broad understanding of the field.
  Some of us develop powers of extraordinary degree; to heal with a touch or destroy with a gaze, and are often put to use for the refiniement of all our knowledge.  I was not going to become one such; chained by custom and bound by tradition, fettered where the spirit demands freedom!
So through the void to your world; yet to fulfil your genetic potential...we are also human and we dealt with our 'Rikti' a long time ago, your turn.  When you win, we are the outcome. Get it?
