Keamy had a mission but decided to follow his own instincts. He has not only learned how to control the smoke monster but has bonded with it in such a way that it is now a weaponized part of his being. Even when away from the island, Keamy can call upon a portion of the smoke monsters power to do his bidding and aid him and his evil minions.
