Character Bio

Orphaned when his parents were killed in a plane crash, Scott Stephens grew up in the care of his Uncle Hank & Aunt Janet. While in college he was selected to join Department E's project to harness interstellar dark matter energy. When the government threatened to cut off its funding, his lab partner Reed Jones chose to make an immediate attempt. Stephens shoved Jones to safety but failed to escape harm's path.

He survived but was mutated by the deadly delta band energies unleashed. Upon awakening he discovered that he could produce and expel large quantites of pure energy thus becoming the Human Barrage.

During the last days of World War II, a bomb-loaded plane exploded with him aboard, hurtling his body into the icy Arctic. The mutated energies in him stopped the crystallization of his bodily fluids, entering him into suspended animation. Decades later, after the Rikti assault, HB was discovered and rescued by Crey Industries so he could once again became a heroic cornerstone for Paragon City.
