The Nexus Event was supposed to merge me with alternate reality versions of myself. I was standing guard outside the portal room so I was hit by only a little of whatever happened. A power surge, they say.

I'm not like Gretchen Margrave, who has a hundred Gretchen’s echoing inside her. Instead, I’m aware of other Gloria’s but none of them know of me or of each other. It’s strange to see myself doing things I’ve never done before. As I’ve watched myself, I’ve learned, so in a way they have all become part of me.

Now, someone is killing my other selves. He's killed about half of us. Of me. You don’t know what it's like to see yourself die again and again. And there's no way to warn yourself.

But none of the other Gloria’s live in a city of heroes. They don’t fly. They don’t create fire. They don’t fight supervillains.

I do.

I’m hoping he’ll come here next. When he does, one of us will die. And it won’t be me.
