More intriguing still is the tale of Lord Redoubt, a veteran hero who spent much of the 1980's in Western Europe, before coming to Paragon City to continue his "crusade" against the nefarious 5th Column. Redoubt met with some success until he was laid low by a Nacht sniper while arresting a gang of petty thugs in Atlas Park. It is rumoured that the marksman responsible for Redoubt's downfall went on to become instrumental in the Council's takeover of the 5th Column. Controversy surrounds Redoubt's ultimate fate, as his body was never recovered - it may be that his innate defenses prevented him from being killed outright, and that he has spent the past decade as a captive of his longtime enemies. The recent disappearance of the Lord's famous broadsword from the Hero Corp museum's collection has only served to deepen the intrigue - especially when it was revealed that the sword had not been reported as stolen.one
