Character Bio

He, to use the term loosely, never had a name. He was the second of two prototypes designed and manufactured by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, DARPA. The Composit Light Armored Warrior Substitute or CLAWS project was an attempt to provide a synthetic soldier to augment US military forces. The first prototype (Claws I) after rigorous testing was disassembled and thoroughly examined for possible failures. The program was deemed a success; however, it was put on hold due to budget constraints and several major ethical considerations. Based on performance data from Claws I, several changes/improvements were incorporated into Claws II and it was determined that “he” should be put into service. Since he was one of a kind it was decided to place him in the service of Hero Corp rather than integrating him into the military. Based on his original programming as a close in combat soldier, in 2005 Claws II entered service with Hero Corp as a Scrapper.
