Scientists tell us that the power of the sun is all we need to survive, if only we could learn how to properly harness it. Dr. Alexandra Cooper sought exactly that. Her goal was to bring a nigh-unlimited source of energy to the world that would be cheap enough for every living person on the planet to partake of the wonders of modern technology.

While most scientists attempted to adapt more effective solar panel technologies, Dr. Cooper decided to go right to the source. Using connections with Portal Corp, she created a gateway into an alternate timestream at the exact moment that its Sun went nova, obliterating the planet. She hoped only that her containment suit would help her survive long enough to take critical measurements.

Dr. Cooper survived, but the experience left her gifted with amazing new powers. The danger of her experiment discredited her and ousted her from accepted scientific circles. Jaded, she continues to seek to bring unlimited power to the world--whether they like it or not.
