Cindy Kens had an easy enough life as a child. Her parents provided for her well and she got along with her brothers.

Puberty, however, always changes things, and in Cindy's case, it changed quite a bit. Her own body's natural biorythms started going haywire. In addition to swift, powerful mood swings brought about by massive chemical and electrical imbalances in her brain, her skin started to turn pale blue as the oxygen in her body was converted to over-rich O-Zone. Within a few years, her body was so over-charged with electric current that she could fry simple electronics just by standing too close to them, or cause a generally unpleasant jolt to a person with a touch.

At first, Cindy was jaded and bitter. She started hanging out with some mutants like her--mutants who used their elemental powers for their own criminal gain. The Rikti War changed her point of view. Seeing the heroic sacrifices of Omega Team inspired her to join the ranks of the city's heroes.
