I've always had a green thumb and a way with electronics. Not a good way, though.
Though it turned out well in the end. My abilities were significantly boosted after the stereo incident in the alien horticulture lab. I'd been working as an intern for a
Portal Corp researcher - part of a 'Build the Future' program for my high school. Dr. Iris was investigating some plants that used sound to attract pollinators. The stereo equipment used to reproduce background noises went on the fritz, and I tried fixing it, resulting in an unusually large electric shock which sent me crashing into the rack of sample vials of pollen. My shirt and the skin underneath were sliced to ribbons by the broken glass, but the cuts healed almost as soon as I stood up. After extensive testing (in another Portal Corps lab), it was determined that I had gained both healing and sound-generation powers.
