Drake Johnson was your average, All-American football player. One night, after his 11th straight collegiate win, he was driving home in the rain. Suddenly, he lost control of the vehicle and it flipped 3 times, landing in a 40 foot gulch on its roof.Amazingly the driver door flew off and Drake stepped from the burning wreakage. He didn't realize what happened until he notice that he himself was on fire (well, actually, just his clothes). According to the accident report however, Drake Johnson died in the fire, the badly burned body unrecognizable.Five years later Paragon City sees a blue streak in the sky.Standing atop the world supported by Atlas himself, the figure proclaims:I am The A M E R I C A N.
