You'd expect a wizard would label things neatly.

You'd expect he wouldn't leave experiments in gardening sheds.

You'd expect is he had an unlabeled experiment in a gardening
shed, it wouldn't be aging in a bottle of mriacle-gro.

And how was I to know he was conducting other experiments on those briars?

He had the most interesting garden - full or all kinds of prickly plants. I'd been
helping out for the past year, weeding, trimming, basic maintenance.

The briars were looking a bit sickly, so I thought a bit of plant food would perk
them up. And man, did they perk! A little spritz of that stuff and they came to life,
throwing loops of tendrils around me, twining along my arm to catch and crush the
bottle. The thorns burned like fire as they punctured me, then the liquid splashed
onto my arms and I passed out from the pain.

I woke as comfortable as could be in the midst of a lush patch of briars. They felt
content, and opened a path for me to leave. I assured them I would return.
