Character Bio

The Australian Army's Experimental Training Unit commenced operation in the late 1940s. By the late 1960s the Unit included two dozen supersoldiers, including legends like Dreamtime and The Digger.
The original Southern Cross had been with the program since its inception, defending his country in an atomic-powered warsuit. His son manifested radioactive abilities at a young age and eventually followed his father into the XTU under the name Southern Son. In 1987 several of the Unit, led by the manic Captain Koala, attempted a military coup that resulted in the murder of eight government ministers. In the final battle for the control of Canberra, an overload in Southern Cross' suit triggered a massive explosion, leveling Parliament House and atomising almost all of the combatants. Saved by his powers, Southern Son was driven from the country by the storm of public outrage that followed. Finding a new home in Paragon City, he took the name Southern X and continued to safeguard humanity in his father's name.
