Created at first by Melkor (Morgoth). Aule captured him, broke the control spell on him. Taking five years to do so. After he learned to behave for the good. Aule in his early day had found a gate to another dimension. He send him to test him and help people of this world, facing great threat for years to come. He's happy to do so :). As a side effect for becoming good, he lost his flight capacity during the process.
