José Swervé was the unanimous crowd favorite of any Lucha libre match in Mexico for most of his career. Because of his popularity, he was never chosen to be the loser of any match. Like any respectable man in stretchy pants, José provided for his family using the money earned from his lucrative promotional contracts.

Unfortunately, his father Juan was never satisfied with the lifestyle provided to him, and he developed an obsessive gambling addiction. One night, Jaun asked José to lose a match even though he was slated to win! José refused to be an enabler of his father's lifestyle. His fans relied on him to be his best all the time, not just when it was convenient for his father's habit.

After another victory in the ring, José was confronted by an insidious group of mobsters outside the arena. They forced him into the trunk of a car, and he was never seen in Mexico again.

José deplores Recluse, but he will bide his time...for now.
