Circa 2004: The year 5176 saw the first murder in 500 years. That Century was "perfect" & the mages and scientists gathered to summon a "detective" to solve a "crime." Mentalla answered & not only solved the crime, but rediscovered the lost arts of "forensics". Tracking the 5THColumn back in time to our day & intrigued by the past she stayed to prevent corruption of her time. Cost#2: During a psychic time trip Mentalla accidently merged with a telepath from the City's past--the original shortlived 70's Mentalla sacrificed by the COT. Merged, the two Mentalla's escaped, but still died. Mentalla found her spirit stranded in modern day w/o a body.
