The rate at which your electrons want to join with electrons that are apart of your surroundings helps to determine the rate at which you, as a whole or in part, can move.  It is within my ability to encourage those electrons to depart more readily.  This means that I will help you to run faster, jump higher, and hit harder.  I can also encourage those very same electrons to replace the ones that have been taken from you by your enemy, effectively healing your wounds and repairing tired muslces. 

Not only can I do it for you, I can do for to me as well.  I can cause the air around me to spontaneously combust, bringing hyper energized paricles to bring their scorching powers to bear on those who would do me harm.
