"Aaugh-!" The contents of the dumpster did not cushion his fall.

Szefan pulled a bent fork from his leg and spat out his cigar in frustration. The punctures from the tines slowly began to close. Long ago, his regenerative abilities were awe-inspiring; near-mortal wounds mended in seconds. But now...

He heard the Malta approaching. They outnumbered him but it was wise for them to be cautious. They had a large file of his exploits and knew of his marital arts. Maybe he could surprise them with something new?

Scanning the garbage he spotted a piece of wood. Ash wood. Gripping the slugger, Szefan sprang into view, knocking down several with a single backswing.

Suddenly a Titan towered over him, clicking and whirring. Clear of the dumpster, he had no place to hide. Glancing down he saw the cover he needed. Szefan raised the metal plate just in time to deflect a swarm of missiles.

With a grin, he readied his weapon, hefted his shield, and charged.
