One would think after more than 300 years, the dreams would cease to haunt me. But they return almost every night. I can see the villagers' horrified faces as I used my healing powers to save a little boy who had fallen under a wagon. I can feel the fear as my parents and I fled the angry mob sent to destroy "the witch." I can hear my parents' screams as the barn fire meant to consume me took their lives instead. I remember the pain and loneliness of my time with the gypsies, who took pity on the poor silent ghost I had become and showed fearful respect for my abilities. But then I also found hope, when Reina found me. I felt her near, a soul like mine. I heard her voice in my mind. She offered her hand and with it a life. I held her close and found a purpose for my healing and psychic gifts, a home to rebuild my shattered life, and sisters to join in bringing balance to this uncertain world.
