Eons ago, the elder dragons - seeing the rise of man - fell into a deep slumber, hidden from the world they watched. Some bands worshipped them, leading to a mix of human and dragon blood. When needed, some of their descendants awake as Dragonkin.
Mica was a geologist, working in the field examining desert rock. Unbeknownst to her, her progenitor slept nearby. Proximity and need woke ancient genes, transforming her into the Dragonkin for the Earth dragon.
