Character Bio

Everyone has heard of Benjamin Franklin and the kite with a metal key tied to it, which Ben supposedly flew in a lightning storm and thus discovered that lightning was electricity. Ken knew the story, of course. As a young teenager he grew depressed and disillusioned with his life, and decided he'd try to recreate the experiment - he'd either be famous or dead, and in his unhealthy state of mind, either one sounded good. One stormy night he succeeded. Only dumb luck kept him from being killed on the spot, but he was hospitalized in a coma from which he would not awake for nearly a decade. After the Rikti war, advances in medical science allowed doctors to bring Ken out of the coma, and even give him some measure of control over the very electric forces that had injured him. Older, wiser (at least a little), and bearing a shield named after the kite and key of the story, Ken joined the legion of heroes in Paragon City as Kite Key!
