The alternate Earth dimension called Skifzvixinet is a place constant with war. No one knows where or why it began, but none are willing to concede their weapons and ever speak of peace between worlds. Instead of just one planet unwilling to come together, this war spans a galaxy. Every small slight is met with devastation of cities, genocide abounds. On her alter-Earth Nazieja was just a warrior knight in a caste of billions. When she was thrown out of her Sehk for failing to kill an opposing faction's innocent son, she decided she'd had enough.
Everything here seems opposite of where she comes from, and she struggles every day to understand what it is to have a choice to fight or flee. In a Sehk there is never a choice, you take what you are given and you do not question why you are given a task, a mate, or an assignment. Straying from your path would otherwise mean death or banishment.
To some banishment is far worse.
