Sara Summers shrieked and kicked at her captors as the chanting crescendoed. Sickly light from a portal lit the undead corpses' eerie, unflinching smiles, while they remained oblivious to her racket.

Meanwhile, in the Astral Plane:

The formless mass of shadows cursed as it saw the caller ID: B. PANTHEON. Grabbing the phone, it said, "Yeah, what's up? ...Can it wait? Now's not a-"

"Honey, who's that?" asked a voice from the next room.

The shadow cursed again. "Nothing baby, just a friend from work. I-"

A glowing figure came in, turbulence rolling through it. "Work? You said you'd quit! Are you still trying to spread chaos? I've had it with your lies! I'm GONE!"

Back on Earth:

The portal blazed as a prismatic, glowing figure appeared and passed through Sara. Strength pulsed through her; she wrenched her arms free and KO'd her kidnappers, then walked off. Infused with the divine power of a goddess of Good, she began a life of fighting crime.
