The day Elle Carson was born was the last day her parents could recall feeling lucky. After that they seemed to be plagued by misfortune... car keys would go missing, only to turn up days later in the hot water tank; the family dog kept levitating up into trees and Grandma Kelly spontaneously combusted!

Aged 10, her parent's house mysteriously burnt to the ground...This happened 3 more times over the next 5 years. No-one could ever work out why they had such seemingly bad luck... although hushed talk of a poltergeist, a malevolent spirit, was sometimes heard late at night.

Then, fatefully, at her school graduation ball, Elle's classmates decided to drench her in Pigs blood... oh, the poor fools had they never read 'Carrie'?

Following the pyrokinetic massacre that ensued, the US government took an interest in young Elle and spirited her away to a secret underground lab in Dreamland. Using drugs they honed her innate skills. If only they read 'Firestarter' they might have been more wary...
