The search for mystic power led to betrayal by the Circle and torture at their hands. He used to hide his scars from public view, but now wears them to let everyone know what he's about - Thornholder exists only for revenge on the Thorns and all they stand for. "I thought that the torture, burning and scarring were the end of it - but as these wings show, the changes are continuing.
