In a facility unknown to Arachnos, Dr. Aeon used a select group of Soldiers and Widows to experiment with nanotechnology. Sycarius was the lone success of the project. His body accepted the nannites fully, as if he made a conscious decision to bond with the tiny metallic creatures. During his final armor control trial, Aeon noticed an increased aggression in Sycarius that exceeded the limits programmed into the nannites. When the Arachnos scientist ordered the removal of Sycarius' armor, the Crab Spider's faceplate immediately flashed bright red."If we do not live, no one lives!"

The mechanized voice sent chills down the spine of Dr. Aeon. He immediately retreated the secret facility. Returning with his full protection gauntlet and clones, he was surprised to find the entire staff running the lab as though nothing had happened. When he asked a scientist what had transpired that day, his associate replied in monotone, "Lord Sycarius had mercy on all of us."
