Character Bio

NEVER use fancy lab equipment when you're wearing jewelry. I was helping Dr. What's-His-Name with an experiment, right after I picked up my new honkin' 2 carat topaz ring. The Doc asked me to hold a lever down on his machine while he adjusted something, when it suddenly started making a strange sound. Before he could do anything, the darned thing went off and sent out this bolt of light. I lifted my hands to fend it off and the light went through the gem on my ring. It went in white but came out gold like the stone, spreading out through all the facets. Whammo! Two days later, my skin turned gold and I got this weird feeling inside. Creepy. The Doc said I had a reaction to the energy that "refracted" through the topaz. My cells are now "super-powered" and I can blast energy out my hands. Kinda cool, but what a nightmare. I mean, really...where can you find foundation that'll cover this skin! It's like I had an accident with a bottle of self-tanning lotion. So now I'm a superhero.
