Colonel Diana Wellington, retired, Her Majesty's Royal Marines, Special Boat Service.

It's not easy being a woman in the service, especially not in the special forces. But Diana Wellington worked her way up, benefitting from her family name and some open-minded mentors.

Unfortunately, when the ongoing covert operation she commanded in a key oil-producing country went bad, it went very bad. A turncoat had sold the location of her covert base of operations to insurgents. In the attack,Wellington rallied what soldiers she could and led an escape, saving many lives. She lost her right eye in the incident to shrapnel from a mortar shell.

At headquarters, Wellington was placed under arrest. She was scapegoated badly, despite ample testimony from surviving soldiers attesting to her bravery under fire. She was court-martialed and given a dishonorable discharge.

Now she makes her way in the world the only way she knows: soldiering. She works to equip herself and her men with the very best.
