Character Bio

 In a time long past Leopold van de Velde was a respected Belgian explorer and adventurer whose discoveries in the Dark Continent of Africa made his name known throughout Europe during the waning years of the 19th century. His exploits were legendary and it seemed as if he alone would singlehandedly conquer the wild continent, it was however not to be. His wife and child were slain one night by slavers during an expedition to Zimbabwe and Leopold never recovered from their loss turning to the fickle Green Fairy for solace: Absynthe. He languished for years drifting from place to place not caring where he ended up so long as the emerald river flowed on. However this too would change for in a grubby shop in Istanbul he purchased a strange bottle of the stuff. Made from the saplings of the Yggdrasil the shopkeep claimed. Much to Leopold's disbelief, he was in fact right. The liquid changed him, warped him but gave him knowledge and power in turn and Leopold van de Velde vowed to redeem himself and his nam
