"One in Million"....that's what the doctor had said....."One in Million"

That is the first recollection of this new life. The life that began when he exited the gestation tube. Five years with the machines altering the structure of his body, his DNA, and his mind. "One in Million." He knew that the Widowing process had a high fatality rate, but he never stopped to think why most widows were female prior to volunteering. The doctor had said it all: "One in Million"

The process had eliminated any memory of his human existence. And that was fine as the rules of humanity and time no longer applied to him. He was now a Widow. A member of the dark branch of Fortunata....the assassins of Arachnos!  Now his innate cruelty and moral flexibility would be put to good use. He was faster, smarter, stronger, deadlier than the "basic humans"; and other widows..."one in a million"
