Crey Industries made a remarkable find when a meteor fell to earth - the stone was the core of a star and, somehow, it was Sentient! Violent arguments between team factions ultimately cracked the precious meteoroid in two, which solved the problem. The two groups each absconded with half.
One team was devoted to studying the strange energies of magicians and the other to electromagnetic energies, but they both strove to turn their star-fragment into an easily exploited human being. Drawing on Nuclear Ninety samples and other Crey programs, the two teams each created a super-powered young girl.
Meanwhile, the heroine Swan and her compatriot Luminary were tracking energy disturbances in the electromagnetic and magical spectrums. They traced them to the Crey lab and, in a daring raid, the duo defeated the scientists of Crey and rescued the children.
The twins took the names they were given by Crey and costumes based on the women who rescued them, and are emulating their idols as heroines for Paragon City.
