Character Bio

Raised in a secluded fundamentalist community, Angela Monroe shunned early on for not being joyous but instead choosing to stay home and read. By her teen years, she had learned to live in fear of her brothers. Rightly so, for one day she befriended an outsider -- her brothers found them and beat them both savagely. They then locked her in an abandoned room. Desperate to escape, she searched frantically for a way out. She found instead an ancient tome beneath the floorboards, written in some strange language with an unnervingly red ink. Strange as it was, she found she could read it. And read it she did, filled as she was with fear, rage, and shame. As she spoke the words aloud, her tears froze and came no more.
