Jessica Blau always did watch a lot of movies. Some might say an excessive amount. Obsessive, even. With her faithful sidekick, The Venerable Mr. Schnookums, always at her side, she's screened every romantic comedy and dramatic film ever made, many more than once.

It was during one of her weekly marathons when the power failed in her part of Paragon City that Jessica discovered her countless hours of watching films had awakened a latent psychic talent within her, giving her the ability to put people to sleep... or at least, that's what her friends assured her was the case.

As it turned out, Jessica actually did have powers, but these did not surface until weeks later, when a Rikti squad threatened her favorite movie theater, the Love Nest. So impressed were the defending heroes with her desperate defense of the place that they insisted she join their ranks. It's rumored that Statesman himself promised her an advance screening of the next Drew Barrymore film if she remains in service to the city.
