Character Bio

Enigmatic and distant, the solitary hero known as Shah Mat is the latest in a line of sorcerers stretching back centuries, each passing his knowledge and craft on to a single apprentice, a wildly chaotic and powerful style of magic known only as The Maelstrom. Practitioners of this dangerous and unstable form of magic develop incredible near-psychic abilities required to maintain their sanity in the face of the powers they wield.

Traditionally, sightings of these Tempest Wizards are very rare, but a few month ago Shah Mat appeared in Paragon City and registered himself as one of its heroes. What his motives or purpose might be here remains a mystery, but it seems to be tied up with the Circle of Thorns.... some in the heroic community are skeptical of Shah Mat's recent association with the young supergroup known as C.H.E.S.S., but the legends often speak of the Tempest Wizards choosing the most unlikely of apprentices... only time will tell.
