The remarkable technology used by Darrin Steel is part of a rare and highly specialized machines. These rare artifacts have three common attributes - they are crafted to resemble ancient weapons and armor, they utilize a type of technology so alien to our own that D.A.T.A. scientists can make nothing of them, and they all bear the letters DSSM etched in script somewhere on their surface.

If Darrin or the other holders of these awesome works of technology know the meaning behind the mysterious signature - or how these wondrous things work at all - they will not say. Interestingly, all of the pieces are in the hands of serious, dedicated heroes and the few attempts to steal the artifacts have failed - the theives claimed the artifacts stopped working when separated from their proper masters.

Whatever the origin of his amazing technology, Darrin Steel is a force to be reckoned with on the streets of Paragon City and has only one neverending mission - to assure peace & security in the City of Heroes.
